“Miami Connection” Live! w/ Graham Elwood, Kathleen Wilhoite & Susanna Brisk

Graham Elwood (“Comedy Film Nerds”) & Susanna Brisk (“MILF Code”) proudly resent the cult classic, “Miami Connection.” They join me at the Hollywood Improv Lab for a live show for a very few (select) people.

The great Kathleen Wilhoite covers one of the terrible “songs” from “Miami Connection.” She also sings the song that she did in the movie “RoadHouse.” Yes, that “RoadHouse.” Hear Kathleen spill the beans on the onset drinking and drugging on a previous episode with Joel Stein.

Back to this episode… Here’s a trailer for the film and part of the original song that Kathleen covers.

Sean Conroy Monkeys w/ “Dawn Of the Planet of the Apes”

Dawn-of-the-Planet-of-the-Apes1Sean Conroy (“The Long Shot Podcast,” writer “Mr. Pickles”) and I talk about the #1 movie of the weekend, “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.” It’s filled with spoilers and mispronunciation. Listen to me call “apes,” “monkeys.”

We talk about the incredible CGI, thimgrese interesting plot and the old school sexism.

Sean and I know each other from our stand up days in the go-go 90’s. Please vote on the over under on when Sean Conroy will buy my first child a gift. The over/under is two years.

In August Chris Gore asked if I wanted to do a live show where his show “Podcrash” crashes my live show of “Proudly Resents.” Of course I said yes, but I had not idea what I was getting myself into. Listen to the show and behind the scenes stuff on today’s episode.

“Logan’s Run” with That Chris Gore

Chris Gore (From every podcast on itunes) picked “Logan’s Run” as  his second favorite guilty pleasure movie. It’s great. Good plot, very cheesy effects (well models and toy trains) and tissue box robots. Apparently in the future, there are no bras. Gore is his hilarious self as he talks about the history of the film and his favorite parts.

This is the last part of a two hour interview we did a while back. This is the turkey sandwich after Thanks Giving. The best part in between some fresh bread.

Listen before that red dot tells you to die!

No more Gore..Actually we might tape a new show next Tuesday. Send us a recommendation.

Next week is a slightly longer show with TV’s Frank from MST3000. We’ll talk about “Valley of the Dolls.”

The History of “The Planet of the Apes” w/ Chris Gore!

Chris Gore returns to give the history of The Planet of the Apes movies and his shocking opinion of the “Rise of the Planet of the Apes.” Plus, he reveals the secret of being a TV expert. And the Zach Galifianakis sketch that almost happened.

Chris Gore is on G4’s “Attack of the Show” doing DVD reviews. He’s also the star of his own podcast where he replays interviews he did on other shows. Including this one. Come to think of it, don’t listen to this show, wait for it to be on “Podcrash with That Chis Gore.”
Actually, listen to this show. it’s short. Under 30 minutes. That’s because I interviewed Chris for almost two hours and cut it up into three shows. The next one is the last one. We discuss “Logan’s Run” on the next installment of the Gore Tapes. He came into talk about Logan’s Run, but he gotta talking and I gotta taping.

Three of the Week – 12/12/11

Three of the Week – 12/12/11

Every week we have three new suggestions for podcasts. Check them out. See if what I care?
My Wife Hates Me One of my favorite comedians has a podcast! Rich Vos and Bonnie McFarlane fight on microphones. The two of them are great stand up comedians that met on “Last Comic Standing.” Rich was in the first season and Bonnie in the second. Neither one of them won the show, but they found love…awe. They got married and had a kid.

It didn’t take Bonnie long before everything that Rich did annoyed her. We feel her pain. And laugh the whole time.

They are really funny together.  This is a great lose forum for them.I don’t have much else to say, but it’s super funny.

PodCRASH Chris Gore has a unique idea for a podcast. He guests on other people’s shows uses it on his show. Mostly he airs his parts. His first episode was his appearance on my podcast “Proudly Resents.”

He opens each show with a rant, which could be a show on its own. Chris is really funny and interesting. He can talk about any subject and does. He takes questions and ends each show with a clip of a movie using typical movie Dialogue. Let’s Get Him. What about a clip of a person crawling through an air vent?  They seem to do that in every movie.

If you crave even more Chris Gore he will be on a brand new “Proudly Resents” this Wednesday. We’ll discuss the great film “Logan’s Run.” He also talks about his favorite movie of the year, “The Rise of the Planets of the Apes” and a history of the “Planet of the Apes” movies. Subscribe on itunes or Stitcher.

Tne Wolf Den – This show is a little behind the scenes, only because it’s purely behind the scenes. The CEO of a comedy podcast network, Jeff Ulrich, naturally talks to Ear Wolf’s loyal fans through a podcast. What did you say? You don’t have an ironic mustache or take classes at the UCB? Why would you care? Jeff also has titans in the new media business talking about how they are coping in this new media world. Listen to the Jimmy Pardo episode (what podcast doesn’t have one) to hear the comedian’s journey from record store clerk to podcast pioneer. Also hear him get the name of Jeff’s company wrong every time he uses it. Never Not Not Air Wolf.

“It’s A Wonderful Life” & History of Laemmle Theaters

“It’s A Wonderful Life” & History of Laemmle Theaters

“‘Bad’ Did you say? I can’t hear you on account of my trick ear. I thought you said my movie was bad.”

Film blogger and bad movie expert, Sherilyn Connelly, bashes the holiest of holy, “It’s a Wonderful Life. Here’s Sherilyn’s review of her own appearance:

“The Proudly Resents interview is up. If you listen closely, you can hear me waving my arms around as I extemporized like mad. I thought we were going to be talking more about the philosophy of Bad Movie Night and showing It’s a Wonderful Life, and I wasn’t expecting to have to come up with jokes on the spot about specific elements. Oh well. Still turned out okay.”

That’s pretty on the nose, but you should listen anyway!

Then a separate conversation with the owner of the Laemmle Theater chain in LA. They broke such films as “Swingers” and it was the first place to show “The Room” at midnight. But first, a bonus Chris Gore clip. Chris tells us how he gets dirty words past the censors on his G4 show, “Attack of the Show.”
