Eddie Murphy takes the check and phones it in in this unnecessary follow up to an unnecessary follow up of “Beverly Hills Cop”! I chose this movie because my brother Mike Spiegelman is obsessed with it. He talks about it all the time. So he’s here to talk about why he loves it so much.
This is the third part of a three part #podcrawl! It started with “Hey, Do You Remember…?” reviewing “Beverly Hills Cop.” Then “Does it Have Legs?” took on “Beverly Hills Cop 2.” Now hear the conclusion – until there’s a BHC 4!
Check out other podcrawls with “Read it and Weep,” “The Flop House” and others.
Check out more great episodes with my brother Mike!
After supporting “Film Threat” – Check out Chris Gore’s appearance on this podcast!
Bonus clips from interviews of Orlando Jones, filmmaker Jeremy Sklar and Nicko. Also Andres Du Bouchet (“Conan” writer) and Adam Felber (“Wait…Wait Don’t Tell Me”) have a new “Ain’t Everything Cool dot Yes.”
Orlando Jones tell us why he thinks gamers are the best audience. He also talks about his Machinima show “Tainted Love.” Read More
Bad Film Club’s Nicko joins me in reviewing “Batman & Robin.” It’s another #Podcrawl and this time we get stuck with the worst of the worst. This film is the fourth in the line of Batman movies that fans went to because they thought they had no choice.
It’s out of hand. All I know is that I couldn’t stop playing with my cats. It’s the most unprofessional episode ever. Ever. Totes.
If you want to be a completist, Check out the other shows involved in Podcrawl!
Bonnie and Maude – “Batman Returns” (With great info about Catwoman.)
Read It And Weep – “Batman Forever...until the next film flops” (With the very funny @taintdog)
Nicko & I take a bite out of the best bad shark films, ever. Excluding Jaws and Sharknado. We dig deep and find the best of the worst movies about killer sharks. Nicko reveals the unknown “Jaws 5” AKA “Cruel Jaws” which she describes as “very unofficial.”
Outtakes from Keith & the Girl and Nicko’s brush with fame. My tale of visiting the Neverland Ranch and other such stuff. Plus we review “Alienator.”
To keep the shows under an hour, sometimes I pull stories from different shows. If they are good, I saved them. If I put them on Audacity they get erased. These two stories have been saved. I’ve been meaning to add them. Sometimes I add them to the very end of the show. Here I talk about going to the Neverland Ranch, one guest admits to borrowing cable TV and Nicko talks about befriending Bil Hicks and Stephan Fry.
Then we review “Alienator” – this week’s offering at “Horrible Movie Night” in Hollywood. It’s an old show that’s on the website still but not on Itunes. Since it’s being featured this Saturday night, I thought it would be a good time to replay it. It features HMN’s John Mathot and Eric “Danger” Nyenhuis. John runs HMN. John’s description of “Alienator” from his website:
“Zombie Lake” Has Nazi Zombies, bad dubbing, funny make up, visible film crew and lots and lots of nudity. Who Could ask for more? Nicko and I discuss this French masterpiece. Watch the movie on our website for free (still too much!)
Former Grantland.com writer obsessed with the Razzies & Nicko returns to insult – on this special show. Since he was a small child, Dan Kois wanted to go to the Razzies. He wanted to see great men and women get awards for terrible movies and films. All year he’s been covering the bad movie beat in Grantland. Dan gets on the horn to talk to us. Dan talks front-runners, the overlooked and what should be the over looked.
Then Nicko stops by to insult and run. I’ve been getting a lot of requests to have her back on the show. We tried to do a live episode, but I couldn’t figure out how to make the thingie work. So it’s a hilarious self-indulgent 23 minutes of Nicko insulting me. It’s part one of our chat. Part 2-4 (all short) will arrive shortly. People asked for it, so I’m trying to leave in the whole conversation. She’s a hilarious.
Take a second and post the episode to your twitter, facebook, digg or whatever you got. Everything counts. All make a big difference. Have a Happy New Year!
Three podcasts I wait for each week. I hope you will like…
“Daytime Justice” – Sharon Houston talks to people in the strange world of daytime court shows. I worked in this genre for five years. There are a lot of great stories. Wait for the teeth episode. Also look for my interview.
“Filmweek” – Every Friday a rotating panel of reviewers review the latest releases. Great conversations. Airs earlier that day at 11 on KPCC in Los Angeles.
“Paul Goebel Show” – It’s supposed to be about TV, but it’s mostly Paul and his funny friends goofing around. Unlike every other show with three dudes talking, each person sounds different and have a different role. He gets a lot of great guests. Paul F. Tompkins, Jimmy Pardo, Janitor from “Scrubs.”
Please email me with any suggestions. I turned the comment section off because I get 1,000 spam comments to the one real one. If you have a show or a comment about one of the shows listed, email me or comment on our facebook page.
Also remember to listen to “Proudly Resents.” This Wednesday Nicko returns with Jon Cryer is “Hiding Out.”
